The Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF) is a nice tie in to July’s Comic Con festivities. The CCI-IFF celebrates independent Film, with the accent on genre-related entries. This is what makes this particular film festival stand out from the rest. Emphasis is put on action/adventure, animation, comics-oriented, documentary, horror/suspense, humor, and science fiction/fantasy films. This year, Comic Con convention goers and film festival goers will get to enjoy a great deal of international flavor, with submissions that have come in from Canada, China, Italy, Pakistan, Poland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom, all in addition to those who have come in from the United States.

The CCI-IFF will be held at the nearby Marriot Marquis and Marina in San Diego right next store to the convention center. A Meet and Greet party will be held on Thursday July 21st in the foyer outside the Festival room at the Marriot. Filmmakers, attendees, and interested fans are invited to attend from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Comic Con International Independent Film Festival is now in its twelfth year and includes a jury of respected individuals in the film industry who will review and judge the 2011 submissions. If you’re planning on attending Comic Con International this year, you might want to work independent film viewings into your own convention schedule…and don’t forget to bring your costume. You are welcomed to dress up as your favorite comic character at the convention!
