Check Out Costume-Con

Looking to take a break from the usual work and business style convention? Try attending a convention with folks who are into costuming and cosplay. It’s really a fun bunch. Costume-Con is one of the many upcoming conventions that celebrate costumes.

Costume-Con is an annual conference about costumes. As stated on the Costume Con 29 website, the convention has its roots in science fiction and fantasy as well as historic re-enactment. During this event, all forms of costuming are welcome including anime, fursuit, etc.

Good news for costume lovers all over the nation - this convention “travels” and has dates throughout the US. Programming will vary slightly at each convention location. At a recent Costume-Con that took place in New Jersey, fun events such as Fantasy and Science Fiction Masquerade competitions were held.

Another great thing about going to costume convention s is the fun and informative workshops. Costume-Con actually offers. Not only are classes a great place to learn new costuming techniques, they’re also a great place to team up with others and meet new friends with similar interest.

Too serious to meet people in class? The Costume-Con convention still has something for you. The convention’s Friday Night Social where you’re welcome to dress in costume, eat, drink, and be merry with fellow cosplay and costuming enthusiasts is always something to look forward to.

Costume-Con is scheduled to touch down in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in late April or early May of 2012 and in Charleston, SC in late April or early May 2015. If you’ll be in the area (or want to take a road trip), grab a costume, and start planning. Need something to check out in the mean time or would like to get costume ideas? Check out the Costume-Con visual archive featuring winning outfits from past events.
