Another Action Packed Anime Weekend Ahead

The tally for this weekend’s plethora of anime and cosplay cons is nine. That’s right nine MORE cosplay opportunities in addition to the numerous chances earlier this month!

First, we’ve got to mention the one taking place in our own backyard (so to speak) – Animazement May 27-29 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. They’ll have a costume craftsmanship contest , masquerade contest and karaoke, plus several ways to donate money to the Japanese Red Cross, where not just a portion of the proceeds, but 100% of your money will be contributed.

If you’re not in the NC area, you can choose from the following:

Anime Oasis (May 26-29, Boise, ID) will hold a Cosplay Challenge and other cosplay events including Battle Cosplay, Cosplay Chess, and “Unrestricted Cosplay”.

Phoenix Comicon (May 26-29, Phoenix, AZ) is a multi-genre con, but it’s certainly not short on anime and cosplay! Among their many, many programmed events, you’ll find Cosplay Chess, a Cosplay fashion show, a cosplay roast, a cosplay skit contest, and tons of panels of interest to cosplayers and anime fans.

Anime North (May 27-29, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) has events like anime pro wrestling, a maid café, Anime Idol, a masquerade and a moonlight ball.

Comicpalooza (May 27-29, Houston, TX) will have BusterPalooza - Crossing the Streams Costume Contest, and a Cosplay contest.

Florida Anime Experience (May 27-29, Kissimmee, FL) will have animusical idol, a cosplay contest and a costume contest.

Balticon (May 27-30, Hunt Valley, MD) has anime and costuming panels and workshops, but is really a Sci Fi and Fantasy con.

FanimeCon (May 27-30, San Jose, CA) is holding a Cosplay Spectacular Masquerade and contest.

ChibiCon - May 28-29, Springfield, MO = Postponed

London Movie Comic & Media Expo (May 27-29, London, UK)- has a masquerade, Totally Cosplay events, workshops, and panels and the EuroCosplay Championships for the best Cosplayers from across Europe to compete for the title.
