napolean dynamite
:: VCD / MOVIE REVIEW ::watched Napolean Dynamite for the first time just, with a crooked brow for the entire duration (but of coz i exaggerate), one hand on me tummy (from the laugher) and the other hand on me forehead (wondering "WTF is going on here?") ~ with a constant wonderment about this obvious non-movie which has become a cult-MTV fav and cultural reference, and of how brilliantly it's

click
:: MOVIE REVIEW ::what i've always liked about Adam Sandler-flicks are that they are what i call "non-commital-movies" ~ ie: no investment of emotions or attachments are neccessary to enjoy/watch them. with that in mind, i've always liked (most) of Sandler's movies (which is ironic, becoz i expect to be "entertained").the basic premise of Click intrigued me so (reason why) and what promises to be

dragon tiger gate
i really wanted to like this movie. i really do. the behind the scenes were encouraging and the anticipation of an Asian/HK comicbook adaptation is too delish to ignore.Dragon Tiger Gate (Lung Fu Mun) is really an individual creature unto itself and should be "judged" and enjoyed for what it is (and not what i hopes to be), IMHOthe good bits:01. sound design gets top honors, for me. you feel each

lady in the water
:: MOVIE REVIEW ::i recognize what my problem was. i was waiting for the infamous Shyamalan-twist, when instead it was unfolding itself as Lady In The Water went along serendipitously, resulting in a moment of dumbstruckness when the credits started to roll and i turned and said/asked: "huh? that's it?"the only thing remains unchanged is the mood and pace of M.Night's movies ~ slow, languid and

the fast and the furious : tokyo drift
:: MOVIE REVIEW ::dunno if it's just me, but the taxi trip i took after watching The Fast and The Furious : Tokyo Drift was akin to sitting in an unlicensed rally car, with the driver going on-and-on - and as he attempts to "drift" down round the ECP-turnabout, i hold my lunch within and can't help but feel that im still in the movie. mayhap that is the single triumph of the flick?one noticable

space mutiny
now, who could resist a vcd-cover like this?Star Wars? Pitch Black? Lost In Space? Eric Bana? = wot a cool movie i've never heard of, innit? an obvious bootleg but i was intrigued so ...turns out there actually is a movie titled Space Mutiny, which totally rips-off Battlestar Galactica's spaceship-sequences, with seriously lame'o sets and acting ... as for the dialogue, i can't really be sure, '

nightwatch dvd
oh what a world of difference a DVD-resolution versus VCD; a movie experience maketh ~ the Night Watch-VCD-review i did a whiles back? ixnay the negative, for the superior DVD-resolution gives form to more details and other visual nuances that the VCD have left out. the visuals now are stunningly crisp and intense, with only one single (the most important, IMHO) irregularity, is the absence of

nightwatch
the thing that struck me most about Nightwatch (Nochnoy Dozor), was the integration of subtitling into the visuals. english subs appear in-synch with the (Russian) dialogue and disappear creatively, be it in a puff of smoke or desolved = very much a visual treat and am highly appreciative of the effort. "Among normal humans live the "Others" possessing various supernatural powers. They are
