birthday soup
:: LIFE IN SINGAPORE ::we have a "tradition" in our family household ~ on the day of a birthday, we would be treated to a bowl of homemade sweetened soup, filled with (dried) longan ("long-yen" in mandarin, directly translates to *dragon's eye*) and hardboiled-eggs; two for the birthday-person and a single one for everyone else. the entire family would have a bowl each and would sit down together
